This is a belly dancer wearing wings. When I first moved to Denver, I began to hang around one of my friends I had met in college. She also taught art. She was interested in taking belly dancing classes and wanted me to come along. I figured why not? It sounded fun. So off we went to Isis Bookstore to take classes from Sandra. She had a super cool stage name, but I'll be darned if I can remember it. Needless to say my friend became quite good. In fact she performs. Sandra and I are still friends, she is a fitness trainer and I think she still dances. This picture was inspired from one of the events that a group of belly dancers held. It was the first time I'd seen anyone dance with wings. I remember they were gold, and the way dance moved was amazing. The wings moved and swirled like water, and the stage lights seemed to blur together.
